If you are already advanced in the techniques of prayers, you may want to find a more advanced article to start with. But for beginners or those who would like to refresh their mind with the basics of praying, read on. In this article, we define what prayer is, what makes up a prayer, and how to pray effectively.

What Is Prayer:
Prayer is any talk that we have with God. Sometime, you are feeling good and just want to praise God. In this case, it is called a prayer of praise. If you are just thanking God for your joyous situation, that is called Thanksgiving Prayer. Sometimes you are asking God for things that you need. This is called supplication. And there are those times in which you are asking God to grant needs for other. This kind of prayer is called intercession. So, if you hear a Christian say I am an Intercessor, what he or she means is that he prays for others. In any of these cases, your prayer involves talking with God; expressing your needs and feelings to Him.

How Do We Pray?
One day, the Apostles asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. What Jesus taught them is usually referred to as The Lord’s Prayer. Christians generally memorize and recite this prayer, but a careful study indicates that this is a general prayer that can serve as a model from which we can learn to pray. Here is the Lord’s prayer, and what it teaches us on how to pray:

The Model Prayer Called The Lord’s Prayer

(Matt. 6:9-13 or Luke 11:2-4)
1. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
2. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
3. Give us this day our daily bread.
4. And forgive us our sins, As we forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
5. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
6. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

What We Can Learn From The Model Prayer
1. Always Start Your Prayer With Praise
Line 1 of the Lord’s prayer says: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name”, and it is the opening portion. First of all, “our Father in heaven” acknowledges that God is our Father, and being in heaven above, He is Higher than all on earth. Secondly, the word “hallowed” means “honored as holy”, or praised as holy. So, “hallowed be Your name” simply means, holy be Your name. Therefore, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name”, is an honor or praise to God for His superior Fatherhood, Highness and holiness. By this, Jesus is teaching us to always start our prayers with praise unto God.

Praise is any statement that acknowledges God’s greatness, glory, power, righteousness, holiness, truth, mercy, grace, compassion, faithfulness, etc. Examples: “Your faithfulness is very sure, and it has sustained me mightily.” or Let all glory and honor and blessings forever remain yours.”

2. Pray For God’s Will To Be Fulfilled:
Line 2 of the prayer says: “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Both sentences speak of God’s will. When Jesus taught this prayer, the kingdom of God had not yet arrived on earth. But it did arrive as soon as He arose from the dead. So we are not to pray for the kingdom of God to arrive anymore. Rather, we are to pray for the other will of God to be fulfilled on earth as stated by the second sentence. At the center of this will are these:
i. All Christians should preach the gospel to all people so that no one should perish, but that all should hear the gospel, repent and be saved (Matthews 28, 2 Peter 3:9).
ii. Christ Jesus will return to earth to take Christians home to heaven and execute judgment and condemnation against all who refused to be saved. Jesus is hereby teaching us that in our prayers, we should pray for these events to be accomplished on earth. Here is where we pray for churches and ministries to be strengthened in God’s work. Here is where we pray for the Holy Spirit to help us do God’s work. And so on, and so forth.

3. Pray For Your Daily Needs And The Needs Of Others:
Line 3 of the prayer says: “Give us this day our daily bread.” The word bread is symbolic of food and other things that people need for daily sustenance. So, “Give us this day our daily bread.” teaches us to pray for our needs. So, pray here for the material and spiritual things that you want to ask God for.

You should also pray for the material and spiritual needs of others(intercession). Indeed you should pray for the needs of not only people, but of families, communities, nations and continents.

4. Pray For Forgiveness:
Line 4 of the prayer says: “And forgive us our sins, As we forgive everyone who is indebted to us.” Jesus is teaching us here to pray the Father to forgive us not only of our sins, but also of our debts to God and even our debts to other people.

When we sin against God, we become indebted to Him. If we don’t give willingly to God, we also become indebted to Him. And if we owe money, material goods or favor to people, we likewise, become indebted to them. Whether, we owe to God or to a human, God will forgive us when we genuinely ask Him, and if we also forgive others who owe us. Jesus is teaching us to ask God to forgive us of not only our sins, but also money, material goods and favors that we owe to others and of which we are unable to pay.

We should also pray for the forgiveness of our fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ. For Jesus teaches elsewhere in the scriptures that we should pray for the forgiveness of fellow Christians (I John 5:16)

5. Pray For Protection Against Satan:
Line 5 of the prayer says: “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Praying for protection against satan or the evil one is very important. That is because, satan is the biggest threat to your Christianity and the joy of it. He is a mean spirited being; full of evil powers and quite ready to hurt people whom he can get to fall for his temptation and as such sin against God.

Temptation is the means by which he gets people to sin against God, and he uses this sin to bind them and afflict them with many sufferings, and at times, causes some to loose their salvation. Temptation is tough to overcome, and so it is wise that we should not be tempted at all, and that is what Jesus is teaching here.

Being the humans that we are, times may come when we fall for satan’s temptations and give him a chance to hurt us. Because of this possibility, Jesus is also teaching us in line 5 to pray that God would deliver us from satan. Isn’t it very consoling to know that God has made such great provisions for us?

6. Close Your Prayers With A High Praise To God:
Line 6 of the prayer says: “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Here Jesus is teaching us that we should always close our prayers with a high praise of God; extolling Him for His power over all things. For such power ensures that He is well able to grant our request.

What Order To Follow:
Although the Lord did not advise us on which prayer point comes first, or second or last, Let me suggest the following to you, based on my experience. As you become more experienced in prayers, you’ll be able to do it by yourself.
First Prayer Point: Praise God. Always start your prayers with praise.
Second Prayer Point: Pray for forgiveness.
Third Prayer Point: Pray God’s will.
Forth Prayer Point: Pray For Your Daily Need, And The Needs Of Others
Fifth Prayer Point: Pray for protection
Sixth Prayer Point: Praise God; extol Him for His power and glory.

As we continue to prepare for our International Gospel Campaigns, let us take time to focus more prayers on our maiden trip which should take place in the next six months. Mission campaigns seek to deliver the gospel to people so they can hear and be saved. We can deliver a partial gospel by just preaching the word on the pages of the bible. Well, people will still hear it and few will still be saved, but we shall end up making powerless disciples with just a trickle of life flowing in them.

Preaching the Full Gospel
Alternatively, we can deliver the full gospel by preaching the word with power and with the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. In this case, multitudes shall hear and a great number of them will be saved. Those saved will be powerful disciples with abundant life flowing in them.
Though we can make a choice, we prefer the later alternative; which is to preach the full gospel so that our mission campaigns can be effective in producing the right kind of disciples; full of power and abundant life, and able to reproduce themselves for a great harvest. Scripture declares this: “…our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance…” This is the full gospel – the type that was preached by the Apostles to produce the early church, full of power and life. Let us imitate them, and to this end pray as follows to prepare ourselves:

Prayer Focus for the Full Gospel
(1). Pray that, as we prepare to take our maiden mission trip, that the Lord will send us out in the Holy Spirit to enable us preach the full gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit.
(2). Pray that while we preach the gospel, the Holy Spirit will fall upon all those who will be hearing the word (Acts 10:44).
(3). Pray that the hand of the Lord will be with us so that great multitudes will believe and turn to the Lord (Acts 11:21).

Prayer is a spiritual sacrifice that we must offer to God acceptably. It needs to rise up to God with a sweet aroma, just as the smoke of a burnt sacrifice and an incense offering. Praise God!
The Psalmist declares that God inhabits the praises of His people. Oh, how beautiful and how awesome it is that such an infinitely powerful God would chose to come and dwell in the praises of human beings. Therefore, let us praise Him and give thanks this day. If He inhabits our praises, then He is much nearer, and will answer much faster. Praise the Lord.

Hello Friends, our warmest greetings to you. May the fullness of God’s grace abound towards you today, so that you can have all sufficiency in all things and an abundance for every good work. Amen. May He help us today to examine the Power of His Holy Spirit.

God’s Power
God is always surrounded by His divine power, which is sometimes referred to as His glory. As such, wherever He chooses to manifests Himself, His power manifests and fills that place. When the scriptures say that “the power of the Lord was present to heal
them.” (Luke 5:17), it is referring to this kind of power.
If you have been born of God, know that you have been filled with the power of God, and that you can live a life of power. From the moment of your salvation, you were born to walk and live in divine power. This is power to enable you crucify sinful passions of the flesh so that Christ Jesus may live in your heart. It is power to enable you find joy in prayers so that you can stay focused in the things of God and be successful in life. It is power to impart boldness into you so that you can bring the joy of God’s salvation into other people’s lives. It is power to enable you prosper in the works of your hand; creating and retaining wealth easily. It is power for your divine protection; protecting you and your loved ones from principalities, evil powers, rulers of darkness, and demons. Yes, God’s divine power is available for you to defeat any difficult situation that you may be facing.

The Holy Spirit And God’s Power
Now, the source of divine power is the Holy Spirit of God, and He uses the words of God to exercise this power. That is why the words of God are together the sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6:18), and is powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword (Heb. 4:12). When we speak and act on the words of God, it is the Holy Spirit who causes those words to become active and to be fulfilled for us.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity (the Father, the Son [Jesus] and the Holy Spirit). He is the only member of the Trinity who is physically here with us on earth. A measure of Him lives in every saved person. He plays very important roles in our lives. Here are just four: Firstly, The Holy Spirit serves as a seal that the person in whom He lives, is a born-again child of God, equipped with divine power and authority. Secondly, He teaches us the words of God so that when we study the scriptures, we can know and understand them much more than when we use our human intellect alone. Oh what a mighty blessing it is to be taught by the One who Himself wrote the scriptures using the hands of the Prophets and Apostles. Thirdly, as our helper, he helps us not only to fulfill God’s will for our lives, but also to accomplish the works of our hands; whether it be a job or a business. Fourthly, He presents our prayers to the Father, and manifests His answers to us. It is this forth role that we want to expand on a little bit more.

The Holy Spirit In Prayers
The Holy Spirit plays a very important role in making our prayers powerful and effectively (an effective prayer is one that draws answers from God). Here is how the bible describes this role:
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the
mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27).
From this scripture, and from what we’ve already learnt, we can make the following statements:
1. Without the Holy Spirit, we are weak because we do not know what to pray for. Often, we know what we lack and want. But we don’t know why the lack exists. As such we cannot make the right requests to God.
2. The Holy Spirit helps us to overcome this weakness so that our prayers can be effective.
3. He does this by praying for us(makes intercession) according to the will of God.
4. He prays for us by Himself using His own language; a language which we cannot utter.
5. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit can also intercede for us through our own mouth (Matt. 10:20).
6. Because God’s word is the sword of the Spirit, when we use scriptures to pray, the Holy Spirit acts upon the words to intercede for us, or uses the authority given in the word to fight battles for us.
So, with the Holy Spirit, we do have a Friend, a Teacher, a Partner and a Mighty Intercessor, and a Confidant in prayers. He is able and willing to kindle our own prayers with fervency and power, pray for us through our own prayers, pray for us on His own using His own language, and act upon the words of God that we speak so that God’s promises can be fulfilled for us . When He has done these, our prayers become powerful,
fervent and effective; which are the kinds of prayers that God answers (James 5:16). When God is answering our prayers, we are surely in good shape. The power of God is working effectively for us. Whatever needs or threats arise, just pray earnestly and believe God. While praying, ask the Holy Spirit to help you. God will surely answer you.

Our Prayer For You
May the ears of the Almighty God always be opened to all your prayers. May His Spirit always intercede for you according to His will. May He always answer you and grant all your good requests in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
Remain blessed.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will [a] ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7

This is Jesus saying to you, that if you consistently do two things, He will give you all that you ask of Him in prayers: These two things are, “Abide in Me”, and “Let My words abide in you”.
This promise is assuredly true because it is impossible for God to lie (Heb. 6:18). So we can rely on it when we pray. All that we have to do is meet those two conditions:

1. Abide In Me: What does this mean? To abide in Jesus means to live in Him, to stay in Him, to remain in Him or to continue in Him. In other words, it means to live your life totally dependent on Jesus; allowing Him to guide you through the scriptures and through Him revealing things to you. You in turn obeying every word He leads you to do. As a Christian, you will be very successful only by abiding in Jesus. Of course, be aware that He will more often lead you through His Holy Spirit who dwells in you, and so the process of abiding in Jesus, implies being led by the Holy Spirit, and you yielding to and obeying the Holy Spirit.

2. Let My Words Abide In You: What does this mean? To let the words of Jesus abide in you means to retain much of His words in your heart; letting the words dwell richly in you. And how do you do that? You can do it in three ways. (i) Memorize the scriptures, (ii). Meditate on them till they stick to your mind, and (iii). Recite them many times until they stick to your mind. There are several very beneficial reasons to retain the words of God in our hearts, but in respect to answered prayers, we note that the Holy Spirit requires the words as His sword or power weapon to pray and fight for us so God can answer and grant our requests. Furthermore, He prefers to use the words retained in our hearts to do so.
So, if we so live our lives totally dependent on Him, and fill our hearts with His words, then we should expect Him to step in and grant all our requests by promise. Amen!

Hello Friend, our warmest greetings to you. May the fullness of God’s grace abound towards you today, and may you daily increase in favor with Him and with all people.

God Is Committed To Answering Prayers
We rejoice that more and more people are recognizing that serious prayers are extremely important to their living effective and successful lives. The expectation of every praying person is that God answers them. Truly, God has committed Himself to answering our prayers (John. 14:14, Matthew. 7:7). But, He does set basic conditions that determine whether He will answer or not. In this issue, let us re-examine those basic principles that facilitate effective prayers, and draw answers from God.

Key #1. Be Forgiven & Be Forgiving:
The scripture declares: “The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous”, Proverbs. 15:29. Also, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16). What these mean is that God does not hear the prayer of a sinner (the wicked) because his sins separate him from God (Isaiah 59:1-2). All humans are sinners until God forgives and saves them. But God will not save any person until and unless that person believes in Jesus Christ, the only One who paid for the sins of all people with His own life. After the forgiveness and salvation, God may then answer his or her prayers. Likewise, we ourselves must forgive others who wrong us. If we don’t, God will not forgive us and will not answer our prayers either. (Mark. 11:25-26)

Key #2. Abide In God, And Let His Words Abide In You:
Jesus says: “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). Here, God promises to give us whatever we ask of Him, if we abide in Him and let His words abide in us. To abide in God means to become so loyal or so obedient to Him that we virtually live in Him. For the words of God to abide in us means that we absorb the words of God deeply into us to the extent that the words live in our heart and guide us in everything that we do in life. Put another way, Jesus is saying that, we should be bonded to Him through loyalty and obedience, and to let His words be deeply established in us. If we do so, then whatever we ask of Him, He will give to us.

Key #3. Do God’s Will And Bear Tangible Fruit:
This is one condition that most people fail woefully to fulfill, and the one that brings the most serious trials to Christians. The primary will of God is that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance and be saved (2 Peter 3:9). God is saying this to every Christian: “Go and teach my words to my lost children in the world so that they may return to Me. I have given to each of you a specific responsibility in this mission and a measure of faith to enable you carry out that responsibility. If you are successful in this mission, then My Father will answer all your prayers. Do you know what responsibility God has given to you? Are you now doing it? How much of it have you achieved compared to the measure of faith given you? If your answers indicate that you are not doing well, you “need to do something about this so that it does not hinder God from answering your prayers.

Key #4. Pray With Active Faith:
Jesus declares: “Have faith in God…. I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:22-24). We learned earlier that once we have decided to seek God on a particular matter, we must know that HE IS and that He will unfailingly reward us if we diligently seek Him. Based on this assurance, we should therefore believe absolutely that we are receiving what we
are asking for while still in prayers. If we do so, Jesus says that we will get what we asked for.

Key #5. Seek God With All Your Heart:
Again Jesus declares: “…You will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). Also, “….he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarding of those who diligently seek Him”, (Hebrew 11:6). When you pray, you are seeking God concerning the purpose of your prayer. The phrase ‘diligently seek Him’ has a similar meaning to `search for Me with all your heart.’ Therefore, these two scriptures are saying the same thing. They are saying this: “If you truly believe in the Living God who is more than able to supply all your needs, then patiently and persistently pray to Him from the depths of your heart, and He will surely reward you. Examples on this are found in Matthew 15:22-28, Matthew 8:5-13, Luke 8:43-48.

Key #6. Know & Seek The Holy Spirit:
In all aspects of Christianity, the Holy Spirit is our Helper and Teacher. Through fellowship, we interact with Him and learn how to yield to Him so that He may lead and teach us. In the area of prayers, we cannot get any of our prayers answered without His help. For the scriptures declare: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
We have a very limited understanding of God and His ways. As such, we rarely know what we should be praying for and how we should pray to ensure God’s answer. The Holy Spirit knows how, and He helps us by kindling our heart to say the right prayers according to God’s will, and also intercede for us on His own in His own language. The Holy Spirit also imparts fervency unto our prayers to make them effective (James 5:16) so that it can draw answers from God.

Applying Faith To Your Prayers

1. Come To God Believing:
The scriptures declare: “He who comes to God must believe that He Is, and that He is a Rewarding of those who diligently seek Him.” (Heb 11:6) The first portion of this scripture: “He who comes to God must believe that He Is” gives us a good starting point in learning the application of faith. We begin by coming to God as in prayers: We come singing, praising and giving thanks to Him so that we can enter into His presence (Psalms 100). Upon entering His presence, we begin to worship Him, and believe in Him: that He exists, and is real, and that He is the all powerful, all knowing, and all mighty God who is the source of all existence. As such, He is the only One who has power to grant our prayer requests. As we continue to worship Him, we deepen our believe to enable us become fully persuaded that He will reward us according to His promise in the second part of this scripture: “He is a Rewarding of those who diligently seek Him.”

2. Confess And Release Your Faith While Praying:
At this level of full persuasion, we notice that the presence of God that we feel remains constant, we feel strengthened, peaceful and bold. At this time, we release our faith into God by confessing our requests to Him. This confession is simply our prayer request to God, expressed in a way that reflects our persuasion that God is able and willing to grant our request. We do not prepare what to say. Rather, our mouth simply speaks as it is being driven by the persuasive force of the faith that has filled our heart; just as the scriptures declare that “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matt 12:34).Indeed, the more persuaded our heart is, the more convincing and powerful our confession is.
As an example, a Roman centurion heard about Jesus and became 100% persuaded that He has the power and the authority to heal his dying servant who was at home (Matt 8:5-11). So He came to Jesus and asked Him to heal the servant. When Jesus agreed to go with him, He made a powerful confession that acknowledged that Jesus has full power and authority over diseases and, therefore can heal a sick person at will. This how He said it.”Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed” (read more in your bible). Jesus marveled at such a great confession of faith coming from an unsaved person, and spoke the word that healed the servant.
Another example is a non-Jewish woman who came to Jesus with a belief that obviously was not fully persuasive. Without spending time to worship Him so her faith can rise further, she immediately asked Jesus to heal her daughter; making a confession that did not reflect the great faith in her. Following Jewish traditions, Jesus ignored her, for He came to minister to only Jews, not Gentiles. But this woman was diligent in seeking the Lord, so she came and worshiped Him, which of course had the potential to deepen her believe in Jesus. However, she made a weak confession again(“Lord help me”), by asking Jesus for healing again before her believe was fully persuasive. As a result, Jesus rejected her request again; responding with words that most of us would regard as offensive. But instead of feeling offended, she turned around and did something marvelously faithful: She drew nearer and worshiped Him again, and finally, she made a confession reflecting the great depth of faith and persuasion that had built up in her heart. This time, Jesus marveled at such a great confession of faith, and spoke the word that healed her daughter.

3. Believe That You Are Receiving What You’re Asking For:
When Jesus thought His disciple how to apply their faith, He said to them: “whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:23-24). What this means is that whatever you asked for while confessing your faith, you must believe that you’re receiving them or have received them while you are still praying. The truth is that God has granted your prayers in the spirit realm, and it shall surely manifest for you in the natural realm at the right time if you believe it (see “Waiting For God To Answer”). I pray that these three tips shall help you harness your faith and extract more power for your daily power-living. Remain blessed.

4. Keep Believing After Prayers
In this issue, we consider what to do after the prayer: How to align our thinking, talking and actions to insure that His answers will manifest to us.
When God fulfills His answers to our prayers right away just like in the vast majority of the miracles that Jesus performed, then we don’t have to worry about what to do after the prayer: We simply receive the miracle with joy and thanksgiving.
But when He does not do so, then there is a waiting period during which we must conduct ourselves in certain ways to ensure that God’s answers will manifest sooner rather than later. These ways of conduct are:
I. Remain Fully Persuaded That God Has Answered Our Prayers
That is, we must not allow the great faith and the resulting persuasion that we reached in prayers to wane. Doing so invites premature disappointment leading to doubts and fear, which eventually kill our faith and thereby delay the fulfillment of God’s answers to our prayers. God will never withdraw His yes answer, but faithlessness on our part can delay the fulfillment of that answer.
2. Align Yourself With God
That is, during the waiting period you must:

Think like God

Talk like God and

Act like God.

Think, Talk And Act Like God:
Let me use the story of Abraham to help us grasp how God does His things. God called Abraham and promised that through a descendant of his, He will redeem all the nations of the world. For this reason, God one day said to Abraham: “I have made you a father of many nations.” (This being spoken) in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did (Rom. 4:17-24).
But Abraham and his wife (Sarah), being more than 75 and 65 years old, respectively, were advanced in age; way past child-bearing age. In human frame of thinking, how were they going to fulfill such a promise; being too old to start a lineage that would lead to a descendant who would fulfill God’s promise? But because God promised it, it had to be true, and they will surely have a child. But the child, Issac, did not come right away: it took 25 years; a very long time for a couple that was already too old to have a child naturally.
So what was Abraham to do during these long years? He had to align Himself with the frame of God’s mind; thinking, talking and walking the way God does. In the Romans 4:17-24 scripture above, a universal statement about an attribute of God is made; God naturally”calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” In other words, God’s frame of mind is such that He calls things that do not exist in our world, as though they do. He said to Abraham “I have made you a father of many nations” even though it would take about 2000 years for the promise to be fulfilled.
In God’s world, Abraham was already a father of many nations in about 2000 BC, even though that did not start to happen in our world till about 33 AD. For when the scripture say; “…things that do not exist,” it means things that have not yet happened or manifested in our physical world. Nevertheless, these things exist in God’s world as soon as God speaks the answer to our prayers.
God is Spirit and lives in the realm of the Spirit. When He declares a thing or person to exist, that thing or person comes into being in His world; the Spirit realm. But in our physical world, the thing or person does not yet exist. Even so, we must by faith chose to disregard what our physical senses tell us; that it does not exist, and rather, believe and agree with God that it exists.
For we who are the new creation, redeemed and called children of God, and having the image and nature of God, have been endued with power to think, talk and act like God; thinking about, talking about and acting on those things that we pray for, as though they exist. For by this, we speak in total agreement with God, who has the power to fulfill our request in the physical world.
When we agree with God, He applies His power to fulfill His answers to our prayers, but when we disagree with God through unbelief, fear and doubt, we delay God from doing fulfilling His answers to our prayers.
Abraham Thought, Talked And Acted Like God.
By stitching together excerpts from verses 18-21 of Romans 4, we can say the following about Abraham’s thinking, talking and actions: He, “Contrary to hope, in hope (he) believed … what was spoken …… With great faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (at 100 years old), and the Sarah’s died womb (at 90 years old). He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith” so that he became fully persuaded that what God had promised He was also able to perform” (Rom. 4:18-24).
In other words, Abraham refused to believe the indication that he and Sarah were too old to have children for the upward fulfillment of God’s promise. Rather, he exercised great faith to believe God’s words; thinking, talking and acting like God until Sarah conceived and bore a son through whose descendant, Jesus Christ, that God later fulfilled his promise of making Abraham the Father of many nations. If we always emulate Abraham, none of our prayers will go unanswered.
3. Always Expect God’s Answer To Manifest
The third way that we should conduct ourselves is that we always should be expecting God to manifest His answers to our prayers. The expectation is the outward expression of our faith that God will surely manifest what He promised. Psalm 5:3 declares: “My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. Here the psalmist is saying to God that he will pray to Him every morning, and afterwards shall expect His answers.
Remain blessed!

Hello Friends, Grace to you and peace from our Lord, Christ Jesus. Thanks once again for taking the time to share the words of God with us. Let’s take another step on learning how to pray effectively.

God Answers Prayers
God does answer prayers, and those who earnestly pray to Him have received such a blessing. As we battle with an economic crises that is affecting millions of lives worldwide, we certainly cannot ignore prayers to God. He is merciful, compassionate and gracious; therefore, He will hear and answer us.

Prevailing Prayers
We all desire that God would answer and grant every petition we pray for, right? It’s not a problem with God, at all. However, we must also know that our attitude towards God needs to be right, and our prayers to Him need to be prayed right in order for Him to hear and grant our petitions. A prayer that God grants is effective because it has prevailed:
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit” (James 5:16-18). Noting that the word fervent means intense, righteous means to be right with God, and avail means to successfully achieve a goal or to prevail, the first sentence of the above scripture is saying that: “The strong intense prayer of a person who is right with God is effective in achieving its goal.” In other words, when a person who is right with God prays very intensely, God will answer and grant his request. So, effective prayers are prevailing prayers, and they are those that are answered by God.
The scripture then gives an example of a righteous man, Elijah the Prophet, who in an effort to chastise Israel for blatant sins against God, prayed very fervently asking God to withhold rain from Israel, and God answered right away by withholding rain for 3.5 years. Afterwards, he prayed again, and God sent rain.

How To Pray Prevailing Prayers
You too can achieve similar results in prayers if you believe the above words of God. For, buried in those words are a few keys that can enable you to pray prevailing prayers.

1. Put On Your Righteousness:
Righteousness is a very important ingredient that makes prayers effective. If you’ve been saved by God, He has given you His righteousness through Jesus Christ. Be certain that you have this righteousness, and put it on by living obediently to God according to His words. Pursue righteous activities, but abhor unrighteous ones. Hold tight to righteousness. It is your key to prevailing prayer.

2. Put Fervency Into Your Prayers:
Fervency is also a very important ingredient that makes prayers prevail. If you have been saved by God, He has given a measure of His Spirit to live in you. His Spirit is the one who will put fervency into your prayers when you yield to Him. Your prayer is a sacrifice or offering to God. God says that when an offering is made by fire unto Him, it is a sweet aroma acceptable to Him. The fervency from the Holy Spirit is the power of God driving your prayers. It is the consuming fire of God that consumes your sacrifice of prayers, making it a sweet aroma acceptable to Him. Make a habit of asking God to help you pray. He’ll do this by kindling your heart with fervency.

3. Persist In Prayers Till It Prevails:
Stay in prayers long enough to allow the Holy Spirit time to release fervency into your heart to drive your prayers. He responds to our prayers at His own time. He does not follow us, we follow him.
Many at times, we become frustrated and stop praying before our answers come. Continue praying for your petition daily or multiple times a day until you receive the answer from God or till you know in the Spirit that you should stop and wait for the answer. Jesus says that men always ought to pray and not lose heart(Luke 18:1). When Elijah asked God to restore rain to Israel(see above), he did not receive an answer after the first six prayer sessions. But He persisted and prayed again for the seventh time. This time, God answered by forming a rain cloud that later spread to give rain. So, Elijah prayed to completion before the answer came. You too should not stop praying until God answers you.
If you are not yet saved, consider beginning it today so that you can receive your righteousness and bring fervency into your prayers. You have nothing to loose, but everything to gain. Just say the following words: “Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of the living God, and the Lord of heaven and earth. I surrender fully into your hands. Come into my life and save me from my sins.” After you’ve said this, call or write to us for
further guidance and a free package of guiding materials.
Remain blessed.

The Simplest Prayer
Praying to God is simple. All that you have to do are as follows:
1. Separate yourself from distraction and go to a place where you can be alone.
2. Stand up, or sit down or lie flat on the floor and close your eyes.
3. When you are praying for needs, be sure to always ask God the Father in the name of Jesus. Jesus wants us to pray to the Father in His name, but it is also alright to praise, glorify and thank Him (Jesus) also.
4. Acknowledge God the Father and praise Him.
5. Begin to speak to Him what you wish to pray about; making sure that you sound natural and respectful. Do not try to sound religious or sound like others. Just speak the way that you normally speak, but be respectful.
6. That’s all!

An Expanded Simple Prayer:
But let me suggest to you a better way that will help to draw you closer to God, and make your prayers more effective in drawing God’s answers? What is given below is for a personal daily prayer session of one or more hours. Modify it as appropriate to include family members or other prayer partners.

Essentials Needs:
1. Choose a daily prayer time of at least one hour, and try to pray at about this same time
daily.
2. Choose a place in your home or other facilities that you like. Try to pray at this same place
daily.
3. Make sure a bible is available in this room in case you need it.
4. Make sure there is a chair in this room in case you need to sit down.

Praying The Prayer
1. Begin Your Prayer With Praise:
As taught earlier(see The ABCs Of Prayers I), always begin your prayers with praise and thanksgiving; during which you acknowledge God the Father and genuinely praise Him. You can do this by simply praising Him verbally, but it is a better practice to blend your praise with singing and recitation: Let us expand on this:
a. Sing a few songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.
b. In between the songs, thank God with your own words, and praise Him for what He has done and will do for you.
c. Also recite scriptures of praise and thanksgiving.
d. Let these go on for about 15 or more minutes.

2. Worship God From Your Heart
Abandon all your troubles and cares. Turn your thoughts inwards to focus on only God, His love and His goodness. Worship Him in one or more of the following ways:
a. Softly sing songs of worship to Him.
b. Softly praise and adore Him by saying your words of praise to Him.
c. Softly recite scriptures of praise and adoration to Him.
d. Let these go on for about 15 or more minutes.

3. Present Your Petition
Your petitions may be a Supplication, an Intercession, a Thanksgiving, a Praise, or a combination of them (See the ABCs of Prayers Part I). If a Supplication or an Intercession, limit the number of items that you request of God to a maximum of three per prayer session. This will enable you to spend more time praying on each request, and will also make your prayers more effective. Avoid bringing a long list of requests to God, for such prayers are not effective in drawing answers from Him.
Plead each of your cases intermittently; breaking and remaining silent for a short while, and expecting feedback from the Holy Spirit. If fresh ideas relating to what you are praying about, enter your mind (most often, words from the scriptures), pray on those ideas. That is the Holy
Spirit helping you. Continue pleading your cases for about 30 minutes or more. Finally say to the Father as follows: In Jesus name I pray, Amen. You are done!

Dear Friends,
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abound towards you this day, and in the days to come. Thanks once again for taking the time to share with us, a portion of God’s word.
Last month, we learned how to extract power from God’s words and use it for your daily power-living. If you pay close attention to this very practical lesson, it will become easier for you to receive answers to your prayers, and to speed up your spiritual growth. Let us now take that lesson a little further by taking an example to demonstrate how to apply the steps that we learned to practical daily living.

Think about Your Situation
First consider the situation that you are facing. What are involved, and what would you like God to do for you? God does know your situation, but He does not automatically take care of it. You need to tell Him what your problems are and what you want Him to do for you. Jesus always asked the people He ministered to, “what do you want me to do for you?” Let’s pick a problem that many people have.
Problem: Can’t get your prayers answered.
Solution: Ask God to show you what to do so that He may answer your prayers (It’s tempting to simply say to God “Lord, please answer my prayers.” Experience shows that this does not work). Never beg God if you are a legitimate son or daughter. Instead, approach Him by faith. Besides, God is more interested in showing you how to approach Him so that He will always answer your prayers.

Find the Right Word For Your Situation
Search the scriptures to find the words that are relevant to your situation. When you find the right one, what it says is precisely what God would be saying to you if you could hear him now. When we search the scriptures in regards to our example, we find one that is so powerful that it will move God to answer all our prayers, if we successfully do as it says; even if we fail to meet other conditions. The scriptures say: “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Mark 11:24

Hear, Understand and Believe the Word
By this, we mean read and study this scripture. Read the words over several times, and each time, listen to what it is saying to you and analyze what you are hearing to see how it is relevant to your situation. Let’s apply this to our example:
When you read our example (Mark 11:24) over a few times, listening and analyzing it, the word is saying that when you ask God for anything that is according to His will (Rom 8:26-27), right at that time when you are praying, you should believe that you are receiving it, or have received it. This is when your faith must be released fully to expel all doubts in your mind and to enable you believe God fully. Remember that your belief must be in Him, and in the fact that He will surely grant your request (Hebrews 11:6).
Finally, believe that this exercise, which is your act of obedience to God, will move Him to answer you. You’ve kept your part. Believe fully that God will undoubtedly keep His own part. Amen and Amen!

Retain the Word in Your Heart
Now, if you receive this word as something extremely important, a precious gift from God and a crown jewel, your heart will retain it easily. Indeed, God wants you to “treasure the words of His mouth more than your necessary food” (Job 23:12). Why? Because its only the words of God that will bring you both heavenly and earthly wealth; even those that no amount of money can buy.
Next, turn the word over, and over again in your mind until your mind retains it, or, actively memorize it if that is easier for you. Yes God commands you to “let your heart retain His words;” (Prov 4:4). The retained words will help you to build up your faith, and to provide the Holy Spirit a means for helping get your prayers answered (Ephesians 6:17).

Put the Word to Use in Prayers
Finally, you are ready to put the scripture to practical use by applying it to a specific prayer. Our example scripture (Mark 11:24 can be applied to any prayer in which you are asking God for a specific thing. So, begin to pray asking God for a specific something that is according to God’s will for you. In this prayer, as well as in other prayers, remember to rely on the help of the Holy Spirit.
The most important things that you need to do are:
1. While you are praying, believe God fully; that He is able to fulfill His words and grant your request.
2. While you are still praying, believe that He is giving you what you are asking Him for, and that you are receiving it right then.
3. After the prayer, continue to believe in this manner.
4. When you pray again for this thing, do not pray as though you have not asked for it before. This will be faithless. Instead, pray with the mindset that you are waiting for the manifestation of what you had already received when you first prayed. Give thanks. Ask Him to fulfill your request, etc.
5. Since God did not promise when He will manifest your request, assume that the manifestation may come right away, or it may tarry for a little while. If it tarries for too long, begin to ask God to show you why. When He does, move to take care of whatever He points out if any action is needed.

Remember, you can always contact us for further information or explanation. Remain
blessed!!!
