You can also say that salvation is the deliverance or liberation of a person from harm, destruction, or other adverse situations. When you are faced with danger, you need salvation, someone to save, deliver or liberate you from that situation. As an example, consider an old man stranded in a room in a burning building. Unless someone gets Him out of there, He’ll surely be burned to death. Now, here comes the fire truck, and the fire fighters now quickly use an appropriate technique to rescue the old man. They have just saved or delivered the old man from death. The rescue by the fire fighters is the old man’s salvation, and in a way, the fire fighters have become the old man’s salvation.

Spiritual Meaning Of Salvation
In a spiritual sense, salvation means saving of a person from the destructive consequences of sin. It also means the deliverance, liberation, redemption or emancipation of a person from the destructive consequences of sin (see below). Unlike salvation in a physical sense, the danger or threat is not easily seen because the consequences of sin are not easily visible to the human eyes. Nevertheless, they are there, and are far more devastating, destructive and deadly. They not only affect the person while he or she is still alive on earth, they affect his or her even more deadly after he or she has died and his or her spirit departs from this earth.
The only way that a person can be saved or delivered from the danger of sin is that he or she be forgiven of their sins. So, spiritual or Godly salvation in the act of forgiving a person’s sin. Only Jesus and God His Father can forgive sin; no one else can. Jesus came down from heaven to earth about 2000 years ago and paid the penalty for everybody’s sins with His own life, and is therefore qualified to forgive our sins. Anyone who truly believes in Him and asks for the forgiveness of his or her sins, is forgiven and thereby delivered or saved from his or her sins.

The Destructive Consequences of Sin?
Sin is disobedience of God, and its deadly consequences are as follows:

Sin separates the sinner from God:
The scriptures declare that “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2). God is righteous and true. As such, He cannot tolerate any kind of sin. When a person sins, God’s purity simply repels the person away from Him. God will not answer his or her prayer unless the prayer asks for forgiveness or, salvation.

Sin brings bondages from Satan:
Again, the scriptures declare that “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Heb 2:14.).
Satan is the master of sin and once sin had entered the world through Adam, he used sin to put people in bondages. These bondages include: Curse, oppression, captivity, sickness, disease and poverty. As the above words say, Jesus overcame him and has released those who believe and trust in him.

Sin Kills:
Again, the scriptures declare that “the wages of sin is death,….” (Romans 6:23), and that “….the sting of death is sin…..” (1 Corinthians 15:56). It also “…when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” Clearly, sin kills people; both physically and spiritually. Adam, the first man created by God, and the father of us all was created to live forever both spiritually and physically.
But soon after he sinned, he was cursed, and the curse eventually brought death upon him, and upon all who followed; even if they have not committed sin like Adam. Sicknesses and diseases came into the world as a means of bringing death upon people.
Spiritually, sin separates the sinner’s spirit from God. This cuts off the abundant and everlasting life of God from flowing into them. They will not only die physically, but they will end up in hell after physical death, where there is terrible sufferings and pain. And in the day of judgment that is coming soon, he will be given a physical body again and condemned to everlasting sufferings in hell.

What Is Salvation And How Do I Get It?
