Hello Friend, our warmest greetings to you, and the grace of God to you, and may God give you all sufficiency in all things and an abundance for every one of your good works. Amen.
Divine Strength & The Human Spirit
The strength of your human spirit determines how close a relationship that you can have with God. Jesus, in whom is the fullness of the Godhead, and therefore, the fullness of God’s divine power, has a strong spirit, [the Child (Jesus) grew and became strong in spirit (Luke 2:40)]. We too need a strong spirit if we want to be close to God and be powerful.
How To Become Strong In Spirit?
Consider this: “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height. to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” ( Ephesians 3:14-19). This is an extra ordinary scripture that encourages us to pray for our own spirit to become strong. It enlightens us on the great benefits that follow: As God answers that prayer, our spirit becomes strong, and we become filled with God and His power. This power flows mightily in our spirit, as well as our physical body to enable us live powerfully and victorious every day. Let us see how this happens:
The Holy Spirit Strengthens Your Spirit
The prayer is asking God the Father to grant that you be “strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.” Your inner man is your human spirit, and in fact is the real you; for your outer natural body that you see, feel and touch, is but a vessel that your inner man (your spirit) uses to operate in this natural world. Your spirit lives in your spiritual heart; where the Holy Spirit of God also lives if you are saved. When you pray to God to strengthen you, the Holy Spirit fills your spirit with God’s might or superior power. As you continue to pray, your spirit becomes stronger and stronger; and the strength often overflows into your natural body to strengthen you even physically. This strengthening of your spirit triggers a sequence of marvelous spiritual blessings for you as follows:
Christ Jesus Comes And Lives In You
The second point of the prayer says: “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” This prayer point is a result of God answering the first one. As God strengthens your spirit, your spirit acquires more strength and more faith to enable him to handle the power of Christ, who now comes in to live in your heart. This fulfills for you the promise of God that says: “My little children, for whom I labor … until Christ is formed in you” (Galatians. 4:19), and another one in which Jesus says: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him” (John 14:23). As a Christian, you already had the Holy Spirit of God living in you. You now have Christ Jesus the Son of God also living in you. You sure are on your way to being perfected.
You Become Established In God’s Love
The third point of the prayer says: “that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height. To know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge”. What this means is that, the Holy Spirit and Christ Jesus living in you, pour out the love of God into you, so that you become deeply flooded and deeply established in that love. What is happening is that God is pouring out His nature into you and making it easier for you to love Him and your fellow humans. Without this deeper love, you cannot come any closer to God. This fulfills another promise of God that say: “hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit” (Romans 5:5). You are now becoming more and more like God filled with uncommon power and love.
You Become Filled With The Fullness Of God
The 4th and final point of the prayer says: “That you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” To be filled with all the fullness of God means to be filled with the fullness of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Therefore, in response to the strength of your spirit, the indwelling of Jesus and the Holy Spirit and the out pour of God’s love into your heart, God the Father also comes in and lives in you.
Now you are complete in God just like Jesus whose image you are. For just as “It pleased the Father that in Jesus all the fullness of the Godhead should dwell bodily” (Colossians 1:19, & 2:9), it also pleases Him that in you should dwell all the fullness of the Godhead. The fullness of God’s power is in Jesus and is fully active. Likewise, the fullness of God’s power is in you, and if you would follow Jesus faithfully, that power will also be fully active in you. But even if your faith in Jesus is not perfect given our weak human tendencies, you’ll still experience within you, more than enough of this power to energize every aspect of your life to success, victory and joy every day.
Practical Suggestions So, spend 30 minutes to one hour daily praying for the strength of your spirit, so that you can become filled with the fullness of God, and gaining access to the abundance of God’s power for a successful, victorious and joyful daily living. Pray as follows:
i. That the Holy Spirit strengthens your spirit with Might so that;
ii. Christ Jesus may dwell in you by faith.
iii. That you be established in the love of God.
iiii. That you be filled with all the fullness of God
Remain blessed.
