Foundation For Effective Spiritual Warfare

Hello Friends, Goodness, grace and mercies from God to you. I pray that all is well and continues to be well with you. And if you are going through tough times, we pray that God’s exceeding grace brings you comfort, healing and deliverance.

The Reality Of Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare refers to attacks mounted against human spirits by satan and his evil spirits. They do not fight the war with conventional weapons such as guns, bombs, spears and swords. Rather, they fight with more torturing weapons of bondage such as demonic oppression, captivity, curses, diseases and death; which often manifest on people as ungodliness, lack of prosperity, poverty in the midst of hard work, incessant family conflicts, sicknesses, illnesses, untimely death, family conflicts, demonic possession, etc.

We must recognize that satan is behind these things. His aim is to sow discord between people and God; to cause them to deny their God and unknowingly chose to be bound to him in spiritual bondage. Those who have not yet received the free gift of salvation from Christ Jesus are perpetually under these bondages. Christians, on the other hand, are supposed to be free from these bondages. But because of their weak faith, many expose themselves to satan and get afflicted with these bondages again.

Christ Jesus, The Rock Of Protection

The good news is that anyone in bondage can be permanently freed from it, if he is willing to accept the full counsel of Christ Jesus and live by it. Christ Jesus broke all bondages when He died on the cross for mankind about 2000 years ago. He has declared bold promises to deliver people from these forces. For example, consider His words in Matthew 16:17-18: “Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, The Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it”. Here, Peter one of the Apostles, in response to a question by Jesus, declared that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of the living God. And in response, Jesus declares that; on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

Knowing that the Christ is the Holy One who, at the time, was to come from God to redeem Israel, and knowing that He is the only One in the bible called the Rock of salvation or the chief foundation Stone on whom the church is built, or the Holy Rock that followed Israel in the desert for 40 years; and knowing that the church is but a group of individual Christians, we can deduce that Jesus is saying the following to us. “I will establish every Christian upon Myself; the foundation Rock of their salvation, and the gates of Hades or powers of darkness shall not overcome him, even though they war against him. He is saying that I am as strong as a Rock to empower and protect all who are established in me, so that satan and his principalities and powers cannot hurt them. As further assurance, He declares: “They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, ‘to deliver you'” (Jeremiah 1:19). And that is no mean promise, knowing that by his strength alone, no man shall prevail against the powers of darkness (1 Samuel 2:9).

Keys To Ensuring Continuous Protection

The key to receiving this empowerment and protection is to abide in the Rock Christ Jesus. If you have not yet received Jesus into your life, do so today and He will establish you and show you how to abide in Him. If you’ve already received Him and are saved, then focus on abiding in Him. Here are three important ways to enable you to do so.

1. Partake Of The Holy Communion:

The scriptures declare this: “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him” (John 6:56). The communion bread represents the body of Jesus that received the stripes by which we were healed, and the wine represents His blood that was shed to redeem us from sin. Thus when we partake of the holy communion, we are taking Him inside of us, to enable us abide in Him and He in us.

The bread is the body of Jesus that is broken for us. Jesus broke the bread to represent the breaking of the old covenant, so that the new covenant can be established. When we partake in the broken bread, it represents for us, the breaking of old familial demonic covenants in our lives. The wine is the new covenant (Luke 22:20). When we drink it with this realization, the new covenant is then formerly established in us. The new covenant makes the old obsolete, so that it vanishes away (Hebrews. 8:13).

The powers of darkness attack you by sending demonic curses against you, and when they do so using familial covenants, the curses are called generational curses. These curses can do serious harm if they are not broken. After you have broken familial covenants in your life through taking communion, you can then command all generational curses in your live to be broken in the name of Jesus. If you need more, write and let us know.

2. Know God’s Words & Obey Them:

Jesus says to those who believe in Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). What this means is that we have to make the efforts in learning what God’s words say, and whatever we learn, we live our lives according to them. When we are faced with decisions to make, we must always decide based on what God’s words tell us, and live by them. In so doing, we are abiding in God’s words and in Jesus. The very truth in the words sets us free from the powers of darkness. But if we disregard God’s words and make a worldly choice, we are not abiding in Jesus and have taken ourselves off the Rock of our salvation and become unprotected against the powers of darkness. I pray you do not make this kind of choice.

3. Pray Always:

The scriptures declare: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalms 91:1). This secret place of the Most High, is the throne room of God. When we spend sufficient time in prayers, we are drawn into this place and become enveloped by the presence of God. In this place, we abide in the shadow of the Almighty, which is the protective umbrella of God. The powers of darkness cannot touch us when we are in this secret place. For this reason, the Bible urges us to pray always; with all prayers in the Holy Spirit.
