God Is Willing To Heal You

May the fullness of God’s grace abound towards you today, and may you daily increase in favor with Him and with people. Amen. Today, let us examine His willingness to heal us of diseases.

God’s Healing Covenant

Healing is extremely important to all people because no one likes to be ill. In today’s world, people who become ill generally go to Physicians for a cure. We acknowledge that our medical institutions play a critical role in helping to bring healing to those who are ill and we thank God for them. However, we also have to acknowledge that they are unable to provide complete healing from most diseases, and cannot heal man’s spirit and soul. Medical efforts mostly help to manage the pain and suffering that accompany diseases.

There is a true Healer, and He is God. He has made a healing covenant with man; to heal not only his spirit and soul, but to also heal his physical body. This covenant, He has established through His Son Christ Jesus, whom He sent to earth 2000 years ago to pay the price for man’s total healing with His own life. Based on this price, God promised to heal our spirit of sin, and to heal our physical body of diseases. He never intended to heal us of only our sins and to leave our body to be ravaged by diseases.

Jesus Came to Heal

The scriptures clearly teach that it is God’s will to heal us. The reason that Jesus came to earth was and still is to heal; to heal our spirit, body and soul. Let us hear what Jesus Himself has to say about this. In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus declares the purpose of His coming to earth as follows:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to”:

1. preach the gospel to the poor.

2. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

3. to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

4. to preach deliverance to the captives

5. and recovery of sight to the blind…..”

Jesus Came To Preach A Healing Gospel

As the above scripture says, Jesus came to preach the gospel (the good news) to people. Some of what He was saying were as follows: “The kingdom of God has come upon you. In this kingdom, I bear your diseases for you (Matthew 8:16-17). I am laying down my life as sacrifice for your salvation: I am going to bear the punishment for your sins, your diseases, your oppression, your captivity, and for all of your afflictions (Isaiah 53:4-5, and 7). The punishment for your healing (or peace) will be inflicted upon Me when I take 39 stripes of the cane on my body, and by these stripes you are healed. All that you have to do is to believe in Me and that I have healed you. My father will then forgive all your sins and permanently wipe them away. I will put My Spirit in you, to wash, regenerate and renew your dead spirit; creating a new person out of the old you; a new person over whom sin, death and disease have no more dominion, a new person over whom satan has no more dominion, a new person over whom principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, demons, witchcraft, sorcery & divination, no longer has dominion.” In other words, Jesus was preaching the good news that He has come to give total healing to those who believe in Him – total healing of man’s spirit, body and soul.

Jesus Came To Heal The Brokenhearted

Jesus also came to heal the brokenhearted. Who are these brokenhearted? They are those who are experiencing reproach, poverty, neediness, sorrows, mental turmoil, disease, etc. (Psalms 69:20, Psalms 109:16, Proverbs 15:13, Psalms 38:8). The brokenhearted are people who are suffering from hardship and grief. And a broken heart brings about diseased conditions (Proverbs 17:22). So, Jesus also came to heal people of their physical sufferings and diseases. He demonstrated this by healing people of all kinds of diseases (Matthew 4:23-24, Matthew 9:35, Luke 6:17-18). By these healing, He declared that He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses upon His body (Matthew 8:16-17). The 39 stripes that He took upon His body was punishment for each of the 39 classes of diseases that exists on earth.

Jesus Came To Heal The Oppressed, The Captives & The Blind

Who are the oppressed and the captives? The oppressed are people whom the devil and his principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, demons, witches, sorcerers and diviners are persistently attacking with all kinds of problems. This attack often results in different kinds of afflictions, including illnesses, financial loses, lack of prosperity, barrenness, conflicts and endless troubles. These afflictions are designed to pressure the victim till his spirit becomes weary and so weakened that the devil’s demonic spirits enter and take over the body. At this stage, the victims have lost control of their free will and are regarded as captives of the devil. Jesus expressly states that He came to set the oppressed and the captives free. He demonstrated that by taking our oppression and afflictions upon Himself (Isaiah 53:7) through His sacrifice on the cross. What this means is that you do not have to bear your oppression and afflictions anymore. Believe and trust Jesus for healing, and He will heal you by setting you free from oppression and afflictions. He will remove them because of His written covenant and promises.

Jesus also came to remove the invisible veil that prevents humans from understanding the things and ways of God. He has given us His Holy Spirit as light dwelling in us (2 Corinthians 3:16), and has also given us His words as light to guide our path in life (Psalms 119:105, 2 Peter 2:19). His Spirit teaches and reveals to us the truths of His words, and knowing the truth frees us from whatever troubled us. When we believe in Jesus and call on Him to save us, God heals our spirit and grant us salvation from the spiritual ravages of sin. Similarly, when we believe in Jesus and call on Him to heal us, God heals our body of diseases, oppression, captivity and other afflictions. God is willing to heal our spirit, soul and body when we believe Him.

Let us pray:

Dear Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus, and acknowledge that You are God Almighty. Empower our prayers, which we declare as follows: In the name of Jesus, we loose every oppressed person from the spirits of oppression. In the name of Jesus, we loose every sick person from the spirits of whatever diseases are afflicting them. We command the spirits of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, ulcer, arthritis, pain, AIDS, pestilence, plague, muteness, blindness, depression, insanity, drug addiction, and of all other diseases not mentioned here to depart from the people in Jesus name. We say to the people afflicted, “be loosed and be healed in Jesus’ name”. Amen.
